Annual Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results in each of the following areas: educational programs, to include student learning outcomes; administrative support services; educational support services; research within its educational mission, if appropriate; community/public service within its educational mission, if appropriate.
Assessment of Undergraduate Majors and Oral, Writing, and Computing Competencies Academic departments have the responsibility for the assessment of the programs of their undergraduate majors and for the assurance of their competency in written and oral communication and computing competencies.
Assignment of Credit Hours Awarding of academic credit is the responsibility of each academic unit. The BOR requires a minimum of 750 minutes of classroom or direct faculty instruction or equivalent for each semester credit hour and a minimum of 1500 minutes of out of class work or equivalent.
Authorization of Tuition Return to Programs Georgia State University will consider applications to assist sponsoring units with the funding of unique and unconventional instructional situations.
Clustered Final Exams A student shall not be required to take more than two examinations within one 24-hour period during the published final examination period.
Core Curriculum [University] Georgia State University requires all students seeking a baccalaureate degree to satisfactorily complete a basic core of general education subjects.
Core Curriculum for System Each institution´s core curriculum shall follow a common set of principles and framework.
Course Syllabus All teaching faculty shall provide at or before the first meeting of a class, each term, a copy of a course syllabus to each student in their classes.
Courses Listed in University Catalogs Course listings in the University catalogs shall clearly and concisely describe course content, state any prerequisites, list the number of laboratory hours (if any), and indicate the number of hours credit. Course descriptions should be brief but should include the basic information necessary for students to make informed selections of courses.

Creating New Degree Programs and Majors New degree programs or new major programs of academic work shall not be added to curricula of an institution unless recommended by the president of the institution concerned, the Chancellor, and the Committee on Academic Affairs and approved by the Board. Ph.D. programs shall be limited to research universities (BR Minutes, 1954-55, pp. 102-03; July, 1996, p. 17.
Critical Thinking Through Writing Requirement Effective for students entering Fall 09 and thereafter, all students who seek a baccalaureate degree are required to pass two critical thinking through writing (CTW) courses in their major.1 Implementation of this motion is contingent upon allocation of necessary resources by FACP.

Electronic Master's Theses and Doctoral Dissertations The University requires all students who produce a masterĀ“s thesis or doctoral dissertation in fulfillment of his/her degree to upload the final version of these documents to ScholarWorks@Georgia State University as a condition of the award of the degree.
Faculty Membership The faculty will consist of the corps of instruction and the administrative officers.
